Sanford Sauvignon Blanc
Sourced from two stellar vineyards in the Santa Ynez Valley (Coquelicot near the town of Solvang and Jack McGinley in Happy Canyon), this is a classic Sauvignon Blanc. The climate at our estate vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills is a bit too cool for growing the highest quality of this variety, so we selected the right vineyards for this noble grape.
PROFILE & WINEMAKING
After a warm, dry year, we hand harvested the grapes at Jack McGinley on 14th of August and at Coquelicot on September 4th. After gently whole cluster pressing, half of the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures and half was fermented in neutral barrels for increased mouthfeel. The result is an aromatic, bright wine with aromas of guava, grapefruit and hints of passionfruit. The palate delivers flavors of honeydew melon and guava, with crisp acidity, keeping the wine lively and lengthy.
