Sanford Vista Al Rio Pinot Noir
The “Vista Al Rio” Pinot comes from a north-west facing hillside block of our La Rinconada Vineyard overlooking the Santa Ynez River. This block is planted to the Dijon clone 667 in well drained, clay loam soil of weathered shale. Year upon year, since we have been making this small production wine, it has been one of our most sought after Pinot Noirs and always sells out quickly upon release.
PROFILE & WINEMAKING
This wine has deep ruby color and intense aromatics of brambly dark fruits such as spicy black raspberry and cola. This elegant full bodied Pinot has seamless integration with great acidity and plenty of structure to balance the vibrant fruit flavors and should give this wine the ability to age gracefully over the next 6 to 8 years. This wine will pair beautifully with the bolder flavors abundant in the fall and winter seasons, or bundle up around a fire with friends and share a bottle or two!
91 Points: "Pale ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir la Rinconada Vineyard offers up notions of cranberries and red cherries with hints of potpourri, rose hip tea and cinnamon stick plus a waft of fragrant earth. Medium-bodied and finely played on the palate, it gives a good amount of understated red berry and earthy flavors with a suggestion of chew and a pleasant stewed tea finish." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
