Sanford Sanford & Benedict Late Harvest Viognier

THE STORY
After years of critically acclaimed Viognier coming from this historic vineyard, we were thrilled that in 2015 Mother Nature graced us with conditions that were right to hang a couple of tons of fruit to ripen further. Our last late harvest wine was from the 2007 vintage and it was deeply loved and highly sought after. We always strive to produce the best wines that our vineyards can give us and, like the 2007, this is magical!
PROFILE & WINEMAKING
Hand harvested 4 weeks after our first pick of Viognier, the late harvest was gently pressed to give, what can best be described, as golden nectar. Fermenting in neutral French oak barrels preserved the intoxicating jasmine, apricot and mango aromas. On the palate the sweetness is balanced beautifully with bright acidity with a clean, lingering finish. This is a versatile wine. Serve with a blue cheese and pear canapé as an amuse-bouche or with a cheese plate or crème brûlée for dessert.
